Abstract:Objective To analyze the disease burden and trends of non-rheumatic valvular heart disease(NRVHD)in China from 1992 to 2021.Methods Based on the Global Burden of Disease Study 2021,Joinpoint regression and age-period-cohort model were used to explore the detailed trends in the disease burden of NRVHD in China from 1992 to 2021.Results The age-standardized incidence rate and age-standardized prevalence rate of NRVHD increased in China from 10.38 per 100 000 and 129.18 per 100 000 in 1992 to 12.75 per 100 000 and 156.24 per 100 000 in 2021 respectively.Meanwhile, the age-standardized mortality rate and age-standardized disability-adjusted life year(DALY)rate decreased from 0.23 per 100 000 and 7.16 per 100 000 in 1992 to 0.13 per 100 000 and 4.94 per 100 000 in 2021 respectively. The disease burden of NRVHD was higher in males than in females.Prevalence, mortality, and DALY all increased with age, whereas the incidence rate initially increased with age, then decreased and eventually stabilized. The risk of NRVHD incidence and prevalence generally increased over time across cohorts and periods, while the risk of mortality and DALY showed an overall decreasing trend. Conclusion The incidence and prevalence of NRVHD are gradually increasing in China, while the mortality and DALY are decreasing.Sex and age are influencing factors for NRVHD.As China's population continues to age,the burden of NRVHD will progressively increase.Strengthening prevention and control measures would be essential.
