Abstract:Obesity cardiomyopathy is characterized with cardiac structure, function, and metabolic disorder induced by obesity itself. With worldwide increasing prevalence of obesity, which has become an increasingly important public health issues. This paper systematically reviewed the progress of pathogenesis of obesity cardiomyopathy, especially focusing on the role of key signal pathways including inflammatory response, energy metabolism, oxidative stress and calcium homeostasis in disease development. The previous researches have verified that abnormal activation or inhibition of multiple signaling pathways jointly participate in the pathological process of obesity cardiomyopathy and well understanding the regulating mechanisms would provide basis for developing novel therapeutic strategies and treatment targets in obesity cardiomyopathy.
