Abstract:The mammalian STE20-like kinase family(MST)exerts pivotal influence on the pathophysiology of cardiovascular disorders.MST1/2 participates in biological processes such as autophagy, apoptosis and mitochondrial homeostasis through Hippo pathway substrates and non-Hippo pathway substrates in a kinase-dependent manner, and regulates the functional phenotype and survival of cardiovascular cells such as cardiomyocytes, endothelial cells and fibroblasts.Pathological stimuli can lead to aberrant activation and dysfunction of MST1/2,thereby promoting cardiovascular dysfunction and progression of cardiovascular disease.STK24 mediates the occurrence of myocardial hypertrophy and heart failure through epigenetic regulation and chromatin remodeling.STK25 can regulate lipid metabolism and inflammatory responses, thereby promoting the progression of atherosclerosis.Exploring and elucidating the role of MST kinases in cardiovascular diseases facilitates the development of targeted drugs and clinical translation.
