Abstract:Cholinesterase(ChE)is a key enzyme synthesized by liver that reflects the liver's reserve capacity. It primarily hydrolyzes the neurotransmitter acetylcholine and plays a vital role in various physiological processes, particularly in neural signal transmission. In recent years, cholinesterase inhibitors(ChEI)have been recognized for their significant therapeutic potential in neurological disorders. In clinical practice, heart failure often progresses with nervous system diseases such as dementia. Therefore, the clinical researches on ChE and its inhibitors in heart failure have received widespread attention. This article reviews the mechanism of action of ChE and ChEI in heart failure and the value of serum ChE levels in evaluating the prognosis of heart failure patients as well as the clinical application status and research direction of ChEI in the treatment of heart failure, aiming to provide new ideas for the prognosis evaluation and treatment plan of heart failure.
