Abstract:Relevant studies have confirmed that high plasma lipoprotein a[Lp(a)]has a potential causal relationship with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease and calcific aortic stenosis. In patients with diabetes, elevated Lp(a)is closely related to an increased risk of first-time cardiovascular disease.More evidence suggests that after reducing traditional risk factors, elevated levels of Lp(a)are still associated with residual cardiovascular risk. Both coronary heart disease and diabetes belong to metabolic diseases. The incidence of cardiovascular events in patients with coronary heart disease and diabetes comorbidity is 5-6 times higher than that in patients with coronary heart disease. This paper reviews the research progress on the structure, function, and relationship with coronary heart disease and diabetes comorbidity of Lp(a).
