Abstract:Mitral regurgitation is one of the common cardiac valve diseases.Timely surgical intervention for the severe mitral regurgitation is very important to improve the prognosis of the patients.Two-dimensional speckle tracking imaging(2D-STI)can track the myocardial motion trajectories during the cardiac cycle and quantify the myocardial mechanical function.Compared with the conventional echocardiographic parameters,2D-STI can reflect the real mechanical state of myocardium earlier and more accurately and detect the more subtle functional changes, which can guide more effectively the surgical decision-making in the patients with severe primary mitral regurgitation. This article is to systematically review the application of 2D-STI in the assessment of primary mitral regurgitation and provide reference for the clinical treatment decision.
