Abstract:As the aerobic respiration and energy supply center of the cell, mitochondria play an important role in cell metabolism, response and apoptosis. Therefore,it is essential to control mitochondrial mass in order to maintain cellular function.Mitophagy is a selective phagocytic mode that maintains cell homeostasis by targeted removal of dysfunctional mitochondria that need to be removed.FUN14 domain-containing protein 1(FUNDC1)is a receptor protein that is highly expressed in the mitochondrial outer membrane of cardiomyocytes and can mediate mitophagy.Several studies have shown that the expression level and phosphorylation status of FUNDC1 are closely related to the occurrence, development and prognosis of various cardiovascular diseases. This review summarizes the regulatory mechanism of FUNDC1-mediated mitophagy and its role in cardiovascular diseases.
