Cardiac function in elderly patients of different ages with acute coronary syndrome
Abstract:Objective To explore the cardiac function in elderly patients of different ages with acute coronary syndrome (ACS).Methods 719 patients with ACS were divided into three groups:ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) group (n=238),non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) group (n=245) and unstable angina pectoris (UAP) group (n=236).Each patient was sub-grouped according age:<60years,60-69 years,70-79 years, and ≥80 years.A retrospective study was used to analyze the clinical data, left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF) and NT-proBNP.Results Compared with LVEF,no significant difference was found in three groups (P>0.05).Seurm levels of NT-proBNP significantly increased with the age increasing, especially in the groups of 70-79 years and ≥ 80 years (P<0.05).Conclusion Serum levels of NT-proBNP also reflected the cardiac function in elderly patients with ACS.The worse the cardiac function became, the higher NT-proBNP was.Judge the cardiac function in elderly patients with ACS,we must consider the effects of risk factor and complications.
