Abstract:Objective We aimed to investigate the relationship between Tei index and severity of coronary artery disease,as assessed by the Gensini score,in patients with non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction(NSTEMI).Methods One hundred and five patients with an initial diagnosis of NSTEMI were enrolled in our study. They were divided into tertiles according to the Gensini score:low Gensini score ≤30;mid Gensini score>30 and ≤60;and high Gensini score>60.Results The low-,mid-and high-Gensini score groups included 28,43 and 34 patients, respectively.Tei index and isovolumic relaxation time were significantly higher in the high-Gensini score group than in the low-and mid-Gensini score groups (P<0.05).Furthermore,the high-Gensini score group had a significantly lower ejection fraction and ejection time (P<0.05).Tei index was positively correlated with the Gensini score(r=0.44,P<0.05),and multivariate regression analysis showed that Tei index was an independent predictor of the Gensini score (β=0.352,P<0.05).Conclusion Severity of coronary artery disease in patients with NSTEMI may be identified by means of a simple Tei index measurement.
