Abstract:Objective To explore the correlation of echocardiography and right heart catheterization in the measure of transvalvular pressure in isolated pulmonary valvular stenosis. Methods A total of 27 patients confirmed by right heart catheterization examination were recruited in the study. The values of transvalvular pressure were measured by echocardiography and right heart catheterization pre-and post-percutaneous balloon pulmonary valvuloplasty, and then the measurement results were compared. Results The values of transvalvular pressure measured by ultrasound Doppler was (87.04±27.11)mm Hg,and the difference of pressure between right ventricle and pulmonary aorta obtained from right heart catheterization was (65.26±22.13)mm Hg.The difference between these two groups was statistically significant (t=-3.23,P=0.002).After balloon angioplasty, the values of transvalvular pressure measured by ultrasound Doppler was (30.41±11.47)mm Hg,the difference of pressure between right ventricle and pulmonary aorta obtained from right heart catheterization was (16.67±8.02)mm Hg,the difference was statistically significant between these two group(t=-5.10,P<0.01).The transvalvular pressure value of echocardiography had a high positive correlation with the measurement values of right heart catheterization preand post-percutaneous balloon pulmonary valvuloplasty. Conclusion There was a significant positive correlation between echocardiography and right heart catheterization for measurement of transvalvular pressure in pulmonary valvular stenosis.Echocardiography is of important significance in clinical noninvasive diagnosis and evaluation of isolated pulmonary stenosis.
