Influence of hypothyroidism on serum obestatin level of type 2 diabetic patients with coronary heart disease

Abstract：Objective To investigate the influence of hypothyroidism on serum obestatin level of type 2 diabetic patients with coronary heart disease.Methods 22 healthy people who were examined in our hospital between January and February in 2013 were selected as healthy group (group A).The patients who were treated in our hospital between December 2011 and February 2013 with sample type 2 diabetic mellitus (group B),diabetic coronary heart disease(group C),and coronary heart disease diabetes hypothyroidism(group D) were also selected in the research,22 patients in each group.The serum levels of fasting plasma glucose (FPG),Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c),total cholesterol (TC),high density lipoprotein (HDL),low density lipoprotein (LDL),triglyceride (TG),thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH),free triiodothyronine (FT3),free thyroxine (FT4) and obestatin were detected and compared.Results The levels of FPG and HbA1c in group B,group C and group D were markedly elevated (P＜0.01).The TG level of group D was (1.63±1.78)mmol/L,which was decreased than group A (P＜ 0.01).The HDL level of group A was the highest among the four groups (P＜0.05).The TSH and FT3 level of group D was (5.95±3.69)mIU/L and (3.37±0.85)pmol/L,which was the highest and lowest level among the four groups,respectively (P＜0.01).Serum obestatin level in group C and group D was (26.82±10.02)pg/ml and (23.57±4.71)pg/ml,which was significantly reduced than group A and group B (P＜0.01).The obestatin level of group D was lower than group C,but the difference was not statistically significant (P＞0.05).The serum level of obestatin was positive correlated with FINS,and negative correlated with patients' age,TSH,HbA1c,blood pressure and diabetic duration(P＜0.01).Conclusion The serum obestatin may be a protective factor affecting the development of hypertension and peripheral atherosclerosis in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus,coronary heart disease,hypothyroidism and hypertension.
