Relationship between waist circumference-triglyceride index and metabolic syndrome in chest pain patients
Abstract:Objective To study the relationship between waist circumference-triglyceride(WT) index and metabolic syndrome (MS) in chest pain patients. Methods This was a retrospective cohort study.Chest pain patients admitted to our hospital from April 2014 to December 2015 were enrolled. The basic characteristic differences between MS group and non-MS group were analyzed. The relationship WT index and MS was analyzed by Pearson relationship analysis and logistic regression analysis. Results A total of 309 patients were enrolled,115 of them were female. The prevalence of MS was 71.1%.Levels of weight, waist circumference,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, triglyceride, fasting blood glucose, body mass index, and WT index in MS group were higher than that in non-MS group [(75.3±11.4)kg vs (65.5±8.9)kg,(97.1±9.3)cm vs (88.0±8.5)cm,(2.85±0.93)mmol/L vs (2.62±0.84)mmol/L,(2.11±l.13)mmol/L vs (1.25±0.53)mool/L,(6.56±2.29)mmol/L vs (5.42±1.14)mmol/L,(26.6±3.3)kg/m2 vs (24.4±3.1)kg/m2,and (205.5±113.5) vs (205.5±113.5),all P<0.05].The level of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol in non-MS group was lower [(1.02±0.27)mmol/L vs (1.33±0.66)mmol/L,P<0.05].WT index was an independent risk factor of MS by multivariate logistic regression analysis (OR=1.075,95%CI 1.028-1.124).The receiver operating characteristic curves of WT index in total patients, male patients, and female patients were 0.839 (95%CI 0.793-0.878),0.877 (95%CI 0.803-0.931) and 0.858(95%CI 0.801-0.904),respectively;and the cutoff values of WT index were 143.0,142.0 and 139.1,respectively.Conclusion WT index is an independent risk factor of MS and could be applicable for screening high risk cardiovascular patients in primary health care institution.
