Investigation of clinical features in patients with operation-related pulmonary thromboembolism

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the incidence of operation-related pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE),in order to improve the surgical physician awareness of the disease,prevention,diagnosis,and treatment of PTE for surgeons.Methods The clinical data of 101 cases of operation-related acute PTE were retrospectively analyzed,which includes the complications,risk factors,clinical manifestations,auxiliary examinations,types of operation,treatments,outcomes and so on.Results The proportions of merger of vein thrombosis of lower limbs,malignant tumor,the lower limb trauma history account for 46.5%,33.7%,and 17.8%,respectively.50.5% patients had short-term history of stay in bed.Hypertension,diabetes,and chronic cardiopulmonary disease were found in considerable proportion of these surgery patients.Chest distress and palpitations were two of the highest symptoms occur in clinical manifestations.The incidence of shock was 27.7%,the incidence of massive PTE was 24.8%.In general surgery (29.7%),orthopedic surgery (21.8%) and cardiothoracic surgery (18.9%) took main parts of PTE.79.2% of these PTE patients were only treated with anticoagulant therapy,and 20.8% were treated with thrombolysis and (or) interventional therapy.Conclusion These patients after operations are easy to suffer from PTE due to operations and self factors.It is important for operation-related medical and nursing staff to realize early prevention and diagnosis of acute PTE.
