Effects of appointments of outpatients on office blood pressure measurement
Abstract:Objective To investigate effects of appointments of outpatients on office blood pressure measurement. Methods 869 eligible patients were consecutively recruited from cardiac clinic of Henan Province People's Hospital from January,2015 to June,2016.Subjects were divided into 2 groups according to whether appointments or not, blood pressure data were analyzed with T-test and ordinal logistic regression analysis. Results (1)The mean systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) measured in the office were higher than that measured at home [(141.97±19.94)mm Hg vs (132.07±16.38)mm Hg,P<0.01;(87.50± 13.38)mm Hg vs (83.50±±12.09)mm Hg,P<0.01].(2)The mean office systolic blood pressure (OSBP) as well as the absolute value of difference between OSBP and home measurement of systolic blood pressure(HSBP)(|△ SBPI) of subjects without appointments were higher than that of subjects with appointments [(143.47-±20.36)mm Hg vs (140.03±16.09)mm Hg,P<0.01;(13.54±13.87)mm Hg vs (8.52±12.06)mm Hg,P<0.01].The results of logistic regression analysis also indicated that an appointment of outpatient (OR =0.532,95%CI 0.403-0.704) were significantly associated withl △SBPI.Conclusion (Ⅰ)SBP and DBP measured in the office are higher than that measured at home.(2)Appointment to outpatients may decrease the difference between OSBP and HSBP.
