Abstract:Objective To analyze the change of left ventricular function and carotid arterial intima-media thickness in patients with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome related very elderly hypertension. Methods A total of 156 very elderly hypertensive patients in Geriatiatrics Section of Harrison International Peace Hospital from November 2012 to June 2015 (Male 100 cases, female 56 cases) were selected. They were checked polysomnography,24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, carotid artery ultrasound and echocardiography.According apnea-hypopnea index (AHI),they were divided into four groups:Non-OSAHS group (32 cases) and mild OSAHS group(43 cases),moderate OSAHS group(45 cases) and severe OSAHS group(36 cases). The differences of their general information, sleep monitoring, blood pressure monitoring, left ventricular function-related parameters and carotid arterial intima-media thickness were compared. The change of left ventricular function and Carotid arterial intima-media thickness in patients with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome related very elderly hypertension were analyzed. Results (1)Left ventricular end diastolic diameter (LVEDD),left ventricular posterior wall thickness (LVPWT),and interventricular septal thickness (IVST) of the four groups were significantly increased as AHI raised.Maximum early diastolic mitral flow velocity/late diastolic flow velocity (E/A) and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) of the four groups were significantly decreased as AHI raised. The differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).(2)Carotid arterial intima-media thickness of the four groups were significantly increased as AHI raised. The differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion OSAHS can impair left ventricular function and increase carotid arterial intima-media thickness of very elderly hypertension.
