Research progress on flower sex differentiation in cucurbit crops

Abstract：Cucurbita crops represent economically significant agricultural products in China,valued both for their nutri-tional richness and substantial economic contribution to agricultural production.As monoecious plants,the sex differentia-tion process in cucurbit crops,especially the number of female flowers,directly affects the yield of cucurbit crops.In re-cent years,great progress has been made in flower sex differentiation of cucurbit crops at both molecular and physiologi-cal levels.In this paper,the effects of plant hormone,genes and environmental factors on flower sex differentiation of cu-curbit crops are reviewed in order to provide reference for further research on flower sex differentiation mechanism.
