Screening of the pelletizing formula for pod pepper seeds

Abstract：To screen out a suitable pelleting formula for pod pepper seeds,vermiculite was selected as the main filler material,and various pelleting formulas with different mass ratios were designed.The quality indicators and germination indicators of the pelleted seeds were measured and analyzed.The results showed that when the mass ratio of vermiculite∶bentonite∶talc was 40∶30∶30,the overall performance was the best.Compared with the commercial powdered pelleting formula,this formulation increased the single seed rate by 7.90％,shortened the disintegration time by 21.43％,and reduced the compressive strength by 20.45％.There was no significant differences in pellet diameter and 1000-seed mass,and all indi-cators met the sowing requirements.In the subsequent seed emergence test,the emergence potential,emergence rate,and emergence index of this treatment were comparable to those of the bare seeds,with no significant differences.During the seedling stage,no significant differences in plant height,stem diameter,root length,and dry/fresh mass were observed compared to the bare seeds.In conclusion,the best pelleting seeds for pod pepper were obtained when the mass ratio of vermiculite∶bentonite∶talc was 40∶30∶30.
