Abstract:The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of varying concentrations of growth-promoting bacte-ria on the growth status and physiological indices of melon seedlings under salt stress.A gradient test method was em-ployed to systematically evaluate plant height, dry matter mass, relative conductivity, chlorophyll content,as well as the activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD),peroxidase(POD)and catalase(CAT)in melon seedlings exposed to different bacterial solution concentrations. This analysis aimed to elucidate the influence of bacterial concentration on the growth of melon seedlings under salt stress conditions. The results demonstrated that under salt stress, treatment with BH8S(1× 108 cfu·mL-1)significantly reduced plant height, dry matter mass,SOD activity,POD activity, and CAT activity by 18.15%,53.44%,5.20%,20.61%and 7.23%,respectively,compared to salt stress alone.Conversely, treatment with BH9S(1×109 cfu·mL-1)significantly increased plant height, dry matter mass,SOD activity,POD activity, and CAT activity by 12.45%,32.97%,20.52%,35.21%and 14.24%,respectively,compared to salt stress treatment. In conclusion, varying con-centrations of growth-promoting bacteria exert differential effects on melon seedlings.Specifically,Huangzi 168 treated with BH8S and Zhongyun 20 treated with BH9S effectively mitigated the adverse effects of salt stress on melon seedlings.
