Abstract:This study investigates the effects of different light intensities on the growth of cucumber and pumpkin seed-lings,providing theoretical guidance for the light conditions of cucumber and pumpkin seedlings in facility cultivation.Using Jinyan No.4 cucumber and Cucurbitafficifolia as experimental materials, the diameter and length of hypocotyl and chlorophyll fluorescence parameters of cucumber and pumpkin seedlings were measured under five different light intensi-ties(1000,2000,3000,4000,5000 lx).The results indicated that under the treatment of 4000 lx,the length and diameter of the cucumber hypocotyl were the greatest, reaching 21.17 and 1.97 mm,respectively. The Fv/Fm of cucumber decreased gradually with the increase of light intensity, while F0 increased with light intensity, and qN first decreased fand then grad-ually increased with the increase of light intensity.Pumpkin seedlings treated at 3000 lx had the maximum F0.As the light intensity increased, the length of the pumpkin hypocotyl showed a trend of gradually decreasing and then increasing, while the hypocotyl diameter first increased, then decreasd, and finally increasd again. In conclusion, different light inten-sities have a significant impact on the growth of cucumber and pumpkin seedlings.Cucumber and pumpkin seedlings grew better under 4000 lx and 3000 lx light intensity, respectively. This experiment provides a basis for light environment control for breeding suitable cucumber and pumpkin seedlings in production.
