A new melon F1 hybrid Zhichun No.1

Abstract：Zhichun No.1(BM18026-1-8-1-1 ×Jinpinmeiyu-2-2-2-1)is a new F1 hybrid melon cultivar.This variety is me-dium and early maturing.In Zhejiang province,the whole growth period of this variety is about 96 days in spring and the fruit development period is about 30 days while the whole growth period in autumn is about 73 days,and the fruit devel-opment period is about 28 days.The plant is growing vigorously.When the fruit is ripe,the fruit is round with fruit shape index of 0.98.There are micro ridges on the fruit surface,yellow skin,green and white flesh.The weight of a single fruit is about 0.62 kg,the thickness of the pulp is about 2.8 cm,and the soluble solids(refractive index)in the pulp can reach 15.2％.The flesh of the fruit is slightly hard,crisp and sweet,with rich fragrance.The average yield of 667 m2 is about 2600 kg.It showed moderate resistance to downy mildew and good comprehensive resistance in the field.It is suitable for spring,summer and autumn cultivation in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River,such as Zhejiang province,Jiangsu province and Anhui province.
