Abstract:Salt stress is one of the major abiotic stresses threatening crop growth.Under high salinity conditions, plants may be subjected to osmotic, ionic and oxidative stresses while their growth and development are inhibited. In response to these stresses, plants develop a range of tolerance mechanisms, including osmotic regulation of the accumulation of compatible solutes in the cytoplasm, scavenging reactive oxygen species by enhancing the activity of antioxidant enzymes, and regulating Na+/K+homeostasis by controlling Na+uptake and transport. In this paper, the research progress of salt tolerance in cucurbits and vegetables were reviewed, including the damage of salt stress to plants, the regulation mechanism of plants under salt stress, and the salt tolerance related genes of cucurbits and vegetables. This paper can provide reference for the improvement of saline soil and plant germplasm resources in China.
