The effect on growth, yield and quality of small fruit watermelon with different ratio of the substrate

Abstract：In order to study the soilless culture technology of small fruit watermelon,the influence of substrate ratio setting of matrix and coir pith on the growth,yield and quality of small fruit watermelon was analyzed.The results showed that the average plant height,stem thick and relative chlorophyll content of treatment 4 (matrix:coir pith =7∶ 3) were the largest,which were respectively up to 158.33cm,8.14mm and 60.11.The center soluble solids content of treatment 4 was the largest and showed significant differences with other treatments at the 0.05 level.The yield of treatment 4 (4 728.07 kg per 667 m2) and treatment 1 (4 310 kg per 667 m2) was found no significant difference at the 0.05 level,significant differences were obtained when compared with the other treatments.No blight infected plants were discovered during the whole growth period of treatment 4.Therefore,the treatment 4 exhibited good comprehensive performance including plant height,stem diameter,maximum leaf area,relative chlorophyll content,ripe fruit quality,yield,fruit flavor and disease resistance,and this ratio could be recommended.
