Breeding of a new seedless watermelon cultivar ‘ Nongfu No.3’

Abstract：‘ Nongfu No.3’ is a new seedless watermelon cultivar bred by tetraploid ‘ B405’ as female parent and ‘ R11’ as male parent.It is a late ripening cultivar,the whole growth period is with 115 days and the fruit developing period is 32-35 days.The average fruit weight is 5.35 kg and the yield is 2 263 kg per 667 m2.The fruit is circular with dark green fruit skin and red flesh.It has good taste and thin figers.The skin thickness is 1.4 cm and suitable for long distance transportation.The center soluble solid content is 10.92％.The blighted seeds are less and the white seeds are less and smaller.It is adaptable for cultivation in and around Jiangxi province.
