Breeding of a new watermelon cultivar ‘Yunong No.10'

Abstract：‘Yunong No.10’is a new watermelon F1 hybrid.Its female parent is ‘M6’and male parent is ‘F8’.The growing period is 85-90 d and fruit developing period is 30 d.The fruit is round shaped with green skin and dark green stripes,and the fruit shape index is 1.0.The bright red flesh is crisp and delicious.The center soluble solids content is 12％.The rind is 1.1-1.2 cm,with excellent ductile and storage quality.It produces medium strong plant with good general resistance.The main stem length is about 2.5 m with medium branching ability.The first female flower appears on section 4 to 6,with 4-5 female interval section.The variety is easy fruit setting with a commodity fruit rate of more than 95％.The single fruit weight is about 6 kg,and the yield on 667 m2 is about 4 200 kg.The variety has strong adaptability and is suitable for cultivation in Yulin and similar climates areas.
