A new‘ Beibei’-type pumpkin hybrid ‘ Xiaoqing wangzi’

Abstract：‘Xiaoqing wangzi’ is a new ‘Beibei’-type pumpkin variety which is developed by ‘Xiaoqing’ as female parent and inbred line ‘ 1-25’ as male parent.It is early maturity,the total growing period is 110 days in spring and 120 days in autumn,the fruit developing period is about 35-45 days.The plants grow vigorously.The first fruit node appears early with easy and good continuous fruit setting capacity.The dark green fruit surface is smooth with ridges.It has orange flesh.The average fruit weight is 0.5 kg.The fruit is oblate with 6.5 cm in length and diameter of 10.5 cm,2.8-3.2 cm in flesh thickness.The average yield per 667 m2 is more than 2 600 kg in spring and 2 000 kg in autumn.‘Xiaoqing wangzi’ resists virus disease in greenhouse.It smells good and tastes sweet with a lot of starch.The quality is comparable to ‘ Beibei’ pumpkin comes from Japan.This variety is suitable for protected cultivation throughout the country.
