Collection, preservation, and utilization of germplasm resources of watermelon and melon in China

Abstract：In this paper,the collection,preservation and utilization of watermelon and melon germplasm resources in China are summarized and prospected.China have entered the stage of genetic diversity collection.Sub platform of watermelon and melon germplasm,which integrate the preservation,service,cooperation,communication,personnel training and popular science education has been built,and hence formed medium and long term storage system of watermelon and melon germplasm resources.The technical standard system of germplasm resources has been constructed and provide important reference for identification and evaluation of germplasm resources.Genomics began to be applied to research and evaluation of germplasm resources,and it is fast becoming a hot research area of germplasm resources.The distribution and utilization of germplasm resources is continuing and provide important germplasm support for the breeding,cultivation and research of watermelon and melons in China.
