Effect of wild watermelon rootstocks on the growth and quality of big fruit watermelon

Abstract：The wild watermelon 1 (green seeds),wild watermelon 2 (red seeds),wild watermelon 3 (red seeds),‘Chaofeng F1'and ‘Chaofeng Kangshengwang'were used as rootstocks,and ‘Zhongkc No.1'and ‘Tedaxinkang No.9'were took as scions in this research.The effect of wild watermelon on the growth and quality of ‘Zhongke No.1'and ‘Tedaxinkang No.9'were studied.The results showed that the stimulation effect was observed when grafted by ‘Chaofeng F1',followed by 3 wild watermelons,but no significant difference was found between ‘Chaofeng F1'and wild watermelons.Higher contentof sugar andbetter quality werediscovered after grafted by wild watermelons,and the sugar content increased 1.00％ compared with ‘Chaofeng F1',up to 11.40％.In conclution,‘Chaofeng F1',wild watermelons 1,wild watermelons 2 and wild watermelon 3 could be used as rootstocks for big fruit watermelons.
