Abstract:In order to explore the effect of dry heat treatment on germination and physiological of muskmelon seeds, the ‘ Xizhoumi No.17’ and ‘ Xizhoumi No.25’ were used as materials in this research, different temperature and different time were set,and untreated seeds were served as control. The result showed that the germiantation rate, germiantation potential, germiantation index and vigor index of ‘Xizhoumi No.17’ were higher than ‘Xizhoumi No.25’,the germiantation rate, germination potential, germiantation index and vigor index were little effected by dry heat treatment. The dehydration rate, relative electrical conductivity and cell damage rate were increased with temperature increased and time extension.α-amylase activity was higher than 3-amylase activity but the variation was stable. The abnormality rate of the cotyledons was increasing with the temperature. In summary, tempetature played a dominant role and time played an additional role,70-75 ℃ and 24-48 h were safe for seeds in dry heat treatment.
