Study on the accumulation and variation of carotenoids in orange flesh cucumber

Abstract：The orange flesh fruit cucumber and dry land cucumber were used as the materials to investigate the accumulation and variation of Carotenoids in orange flesh cucumber fruit.Common cucumber with the similar growth habit was used as control,carotenoid contents were determined by spectrophotography,the flesh color was compared by RHS color card.The results showed that carotenoid contents were significantly different among the different kinds of cucumber.40 d after bloom,the carotenoid content was up to 252.95 mg· L-1 in'JHH-3'fruit,and the flesh color was darkest in'JHS-1'and 'JHH-3',which indicated that the flesh color of cucumber was positively correlated with carotenoid content.'JHS-3'appeared the earliest coloring stage,followed by'JHS-1'.
