A New hybrid squash variety ‘Donghu No.8’

Abstract：‘Donghu No.8’ is a hybrid squash variety developed by using code ‘A-28’ as female parent and inbred line ‘ 628-1’ as male parent.The fruit matures about 43 days from sowing.The plant is erect and wide.The leaf margin has five deep incision and leaf color is dark green with small white spots.The first female flower node is in section 6-7.‘Donghu No.8’ shows many female flowers and high fruit setting ratio.The fruit is long cylindrical with 24-26 cm in length and diameter of 5-6 cm.The fruit skin is green and very glossy.It is resistant to virus disease.The yield is about 3 700 kg per 667m2 in spring open cultivation.‘Donghu No.8’ is suitable for protected and open field cultivation in early spring and late autumn in Shanxi.
