A new medium size yellow flesh early-maturing watermelon cultivar F1 hybrid ‘ Qianmei No.1’

Abstract：‘ Qianmei No.1 ’ is a new F1 hybrid of early-maturing watermelon which is developed by crossing ‘ XL006’ as female parent and ‘XF006’ as male parent.Its fruit is high round with green skin covered with dark green stripe and 0.8 cm in thickness,the average fruit weight is 3.2 kg.The flesh is yellow and total soluble solids is 11.0％ in center and 7.9％ in edge.The fruit developing period is 31 days in early spring.The average yield of 2014 and 2015 is 2 932.0 kg per 667 m2which is 27.2％ higher than the contrast cultivar ‘Xiaolan’ and 7.7％ lower than ‘Jingxin No.1 ’.The taste score is 87.1 which is higher than ‘ Jingxin No.1 ’ (85.7) and a little lower than ‘ Xiaolan’ (88.8).It is suitable for cultivated in Jiangsu province and similar ecological areas.
