Status and prospect of eggplant breeding in Henan

Abstract：Eggplant,rich in high nutritional value,is one of the main vegetables widely cultivated in China.Henan province is eggplant main production area with purple and green eggplant type.We introduced the status of eggplant breeding in Henan,including breeding history,breeding units,main varieties,as well as the main methods of eggplant breeding,eggplant varieties through the recognition,registration,identification and awards.We also pointed out the main problems and the direction of eggplant breeding in the future.
