Effect of different nutritional soil on the growth of watermelon seedlings

Abstract：In order to study the intensive seedlings mode and suitable equipment of watermelon cultivation in Beijing area, comparison experiment about different nutritional soil were used in this research. The results indicated that experimental treatment 4 (soil∶substrate=3∶1) and treatment 3 (soil∶farmmanure=3∶2) had outstanding performance. Treatments 4 performed noticeably well in fruit quality,plant height, stem thickness and leaf area. the center and edge of the soluble solids content were 12.47% and 9.87% respectively. At the same time the fruit showed thinnest fruit skin, better taste and more edible part. Treatments 3 performed noticeably well in single fruit weight (1.83 kg), yield (4 360.89 kg) and root shoot ratio.
