Breeding of muskmelon variety‘Haimi No. 8’

Abstract：‘Haimi No. 8’is a new muskmelon variety. It is F1 hybrid melon developed by crossing two inbred lion‘HG105-83’and‘Y9711-105-9’. It is highly resistant to fusarium wilt. The fruit development period is about 46 days. The fruit shin is covered with sage green netting. It is shape index 1.1. The flesh is yellow-green with thickness of 3.8 cm. The flesh central soluble solids content is 15.3%and 9.8%near skin. The average fruit weight is about 1.4 kg with good stor?age and shipping ability. The yield per 667 m2 is about 2 447 kg. It is suitable for greenhouse production and open field pro?duction in Northwest China .
