Breeding of a new early maturing Watermelon Variety‘Shengxin’

Abstract：‘Shengxin’is a new early-maturing hybrid watermelon developed by‘TM99’as female parent and‘RF02’as male parent. The plant grows vigorously and the fruit matures early with high round, green peel covered with fine grain of rack type and wax. The average fruit development period is 33.3 days, and single fruit weights is 5.6 kg, per 667 m2 yield is 4 000 kg. The flesh is red and crisp with center sugar content of 11.4%and edge sugar content of 8.5%. The fruit has durable rind for transportation and resistant to Fusarium wilt. It is suitable for early protected spring cultivation and open cultivation in North China.
