Abstract：‘Guixigua No. 2’is a new middle maturity and middle fruit seedless watermelon by crossing tetraploid line‘X4n-1-4-5-1’which is round with light green skin hidden reticulate stripe as female parent and diploid line‘HL6-2-5-4-1’ which is oval with green piebald skin as male parent. The total growing period is 85-110 days(spring crop)and 70-85 days (autumn crop),the fruit development period is 28-35 days. The plant grows vigorously with strong disease resistance and stress resistance which will not only prevent senescence but will also contribute to better fruit setting. The fruit is high round with green skin covered with dark green stripe. The thickness of peel is 0.8-1.1 cm and hardness is 25.4 kg · cm-2 which makes the fruit resistant to storage and transportation. The flesh is red with small seed traces, smooth texture, crisp and juicy, less fiber without hollow phenomenon. The center soluble solid content of flesh is over 11.5%. The fruit weight is 2.5-4.5 kg, yield is 2 394.5-3 553.3 kg per 667 m2.‘Guixigua No. 2’is suitable for plant in open field and protected culti?vation in Guangxi province..
