Breeding of a New Watermelon Variety‘Huanghe Huaguanlong’ with High Yield and Disease Resistance

Abstract：‘Huanghe Huaguanlong’is developed by using‘JI910’as female parent and‘LT-6’as male parent. The whole growing period is about 101 days from sowing and the fruit development period is about 33 days from flowing. The fruit is oblong and the skin is dark green with regular wide stripes. The average fruit weights 8 kg and 667 m2 yield is about 4 500-5 500 kg. The flesh is red,sweet and fine texture. The plant is strong and has good fruit set. The cultivar is resistant to common diseases and insect pests. The variety is easy to grow with good return. The variety is suitable for most areas of northern China. The variety is approved by the Shanxi Provincial Crop Variety Evaluation Committee in 2014,the authorized number is“Jin watermelon 2014002”.
