Empirical Study on the Relation between Public Health Expenditure and Economic Development in Hainan
Abstract:Objective:To study the relationship between public health expenditure and economic development in Hainan so as to provide the government references for formulationg public health expenditure policy.Methods:Based on the relevant data in Hainan form 1997 to 2014,the co-integration test,Granger causality test and error correction mode were applied to analyze the relationship between public health expenditure and economic development.Results:The public health expenditure and economic development had co-integration relationship which was-0.405 504 in the short-term correction.The public health expenditure was the Granger cause of economic development.Conclusion:There was not only a long-term equilibrium,but also a short-term relationship between the public health expenditure and economic growth in Hainan.The public health expenditure could promote economic growth while the promotion of economic growth to public health expenditure was not obvious.The government should expand the scale of the expenditure,adjust the expenditure structure,establish the evaluation system for public health performance,increase the rural public health expenditure,narrow the gap between urban and rural areas and promote economic development.
