Analysis on Hospitalization Expense of Five Kinds of Cancers and Its Influencing Factors
Abstract:To study the hospitalization expenses and its main influencing factors of 5 kinds of patients with common tumors, and provide references for the rational allocation of medical resources and the proper reduction of medical expenses. Methods:Patients with first diagnosis of colon cancer, rectal cancer liver cancer, lung cancer, and breast cancer in Beijing ZL Cancer Hospital from 2008 to 2012 were collected. The distribution, construction and average hospitalization stay were descriptively explained. The influencing factors of hospitalization expenses were involved in the multinomial linear regression analysis. Results: Collected data included 22 995 cases, and the hospitalization expenses of patients with cancer were high, medicine fees was the main proportion of all fees. The major influencing factors included length of stay, whether surgery, whether admitted for the first time, whether under medical insurance. Conclusion:Expanding the coverage of medical insurance policy and medical insurance reimbursement level and establishing critical illness insurance business supplement insurance were system requirements for cancer patients. The reasonable specified drug usage was the necessary way to control medical expenses. Strengthening hospital management, shortening hospitalization length and implementing reasonable health care were useful to reduce the economic burden of patients and the society.
