Application and Prospects of Intra-Arterial Coiling with Electrocoagulation in the Treatment of Cerebrovascular Occlusive Diseases
Abstract:The prognosis of intracranial aneurysms not only depends on lesion characteristics and clinical conditions, but also on the treatment techniques. After the publication of the results of the International Subarachnoid Aneurysm Trial (ISAT), endovascular coiling has rapidly developed due to its advantages in minimally invasive approach and functional prognosis, becoming the mainstream treatment method. Its efficacy is proportional to the packing density, but there are gaps between overlapping coil wires. Even the most densely packed embolization in imaging can only reach about 40% packing rate, and the gaps need to be filled by thrombosis to achieve cure. Therefore, promoting the rapid formation of thrombus and maintaining long-term stability is key to improving efficacy and reducing recurrence.
