A Case of Vertebrobasilar Dolichoectasia Presenting with Cerebellar Hemorrhage and a Literature Review
Abstract:Objective To summarize the clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of vertebrobasilar dolichoectasia (VBD). Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data and treatment process of a patient with VBD who presented with cerebellar hemorrhage as the initial symptom, and a literature review was performed to analyze its pathogenesis and summarize the treatment experience. Results The patient was admitted to the hospital with dizziness, vomiting, and visual vertigo for 18 hours. After admission, full-brain digital subtraction angiography (DSA) revealed significant elongation and dilation of the vertebral-basilar arteries. After symptomatic treatment, the patient's dizziness and vomiting symptoms were completely relieved and discharged. Follow-up DSA excluded micro-aneurysm bleeding. Conclusion VBD has diverse clinical manifestations, and diagnosis depends on imaging examinations. Early screening and intervention are crucial for improving patient prognosis.
