Abstract:With the continuous advancement of endoscopic sinus surgery, the endoscopic endonasal approach for skull base lesion resection has been widely adopted in clinical practice. This technique can circumvent the damage to normal brain tissue associated with traditional craniotomy;however,it may lead to complications such as cerebrospinal fluid(CSF)leakage and intracranial infection, particularly postoperative CSF leakage, which constitutes a critical factor limiting the development of endoscopic endonasal skull base surgery and affecting patients'postoperative quality of life.Consequently, the importance of skull base reconstruction in preventing CSF leakage and intracranial infection has become increasingly prominent. The nasoseptal flap,as a commonly utilized vascularized tissue flap, has gained extensive application in skull base reconstruction due to its operational convenience, abundant blood supply, and minimal complications. This review aims to summarize the theoretical foundations and latest research advancements in the application of nasoseptal flaps in skull base reconstruction, providing references and practical insights for further optimizing the endoscopic endonasal approach for skull base lesion resection.
