Advances in the Study of Resting-State Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Brain Functional Localization and Functional Reorganization in Patients with Gliomas
Abstract:Surgical resection is the main treatment for patients with brain gliomas, and the prognosis of patients largely depends on the quality and extent of surgical resection. Each patient has a different distribution of neural functions, and the presence of tumors can also lead to reorganization of brain functional areas. Therefore, it is essential to locate functional areas preoperatively to preserve necessary brain functions. Functional magnetic resonance imaging, as an important means for precise analysis of brain structure-function, provides a unique perspective for guiding surgical resection and predicting treatment outcomes. Its application in neurosurgery still needs further extension. This review summarizes the clinical progress of resting-state functional imaging in the diagnosis and treatment of gliomas, mainly including the following two aspects: ① preoperative localization of functional areas and identification of different functional networks in glioma patients; ② different patterns of functional network reorganization in glioma patients and postoperative changes in brain function.
