Abstract:Objective To investigate the expression of Cullin 4A(CUL4A)in glioma and its clinical significance,as well as to explore its correlation with β-catenin expression. Methods A total of 78 specimens of brain glioma were collected, including 27 ones of gradeⅡastrocytoma,29 of gradeⅢastrocytoma, and 22 of glioblastoma(GBM),all of which were primary brain gliomas and had not received radiotherapy, chemotherapy,or other related treatments prior to surgery.Normal brain tissues obtained during decompression surgery from 5 patients with hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage were used as the control specimens.Immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the expression of CUL4A and β-catenin proteins, and statistical methods were employed to analyze the correlation between them. Results Among the 78 brain glioma specimens, positive expression of CUL4A antibody was observed in 50 cases(64.1%),and positive expression of β-catenin antibody was found in 61 cases(78.2%).The positive expressions of both CUL4A and β-catenin were correlated with the malignancy of brain glioma, but not expressed in normal brain tissues.A positive correlation was observed between the expressions of CUL4A and β-catenin.Conclusion The high expression of CUL4A protein in glioma tissues is positively correlated with the expression of β-catenin protein, providing insights into the disease progression of gliomas.
