Abstract:Objective To explore the effectiveness of active negative pressure subgaleal aponeurosis drainage in the management of chronic subdural hematoma(CSDH).Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on 78 patients who underwent active negative pressure subgaleal aponeurosis drainage for the treatment of CSDH.Cranial CT scans showed that there were 59 cases of unilateral hematoma and 19 cases of bilateral hematoma;45 cases of equal-density hematoma,17 cases of low-density hematoma, and 16 cases of mixed-density hematoma. Results Among the 78 patients,4 cases required re-drilling and catheter irrigation due to residual or recurrent hematoma, following which they were successfully treated. No instances of intracranial infection, brain tissue damage, intracerebral hematoma,or epileptic seizures were observed. Conclusions Active negative pressure subgaleal aponeurosiscan drainage for treating CSDH demonstrates a favorable surgical outcome, with lower hospitalization cost, and reduced risk of severe surgical complications like brain tissue injury. This procedure is straightforward, secure, efficacious, and merits wider adoption.
