Abstract:Objective To investigate the correlation between isocitrate denydrogenase 1 ( IDH1 ) gene mutant and tumor-associated epilepsy (TAE) in diffuse gliomas patients with WHO grades Ⅱ and Ⅲ. Methods Clinical data of 135 diffuse glioma patients with WHO grades Ⅱ and Ⅲ were analyzed retrospectively. The influences of lesion site, age, gender, WHO grade, IDH1 mutant type on the preoperative seizures were analyzed statistically. Results The incidence of TAE was higher in the patients with age equal to and less than 40 years and IDH1 mutant type than in the patients with age more than 40 years and IDH1 wide type (P<0.05). The IDH1 mutant type was the independent factor for preoperative epilepsy (OR =8.433, 95%CI: 3.539 to 20.096, P=0.000). Conclusions The diffuse gliomas with IDH1 mutant type are more prone to cause seizure, which have important significance for the treatment and prognosis of gliomas with WHO grades Ⅱ and Ⅲ.
