Abstract:Objective To observe the clinical effect of Xingnaojing combined with atorvastatin calcium on elder chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) due to aspirin. Methods One hundred and twenty-one patients with CSDH were selected, which were given aspirin for more than half a year before onset, and trephination and drainage were performed in all the patients after admission. Then, the patients were divided into Xingnaojing group of 38 patients, atorvastatin calcium group of 44 and combination treatment group (Xingnaojing combined with atorvastatin calcium) of 39 according to the different strategies.Clinical outcomes were evaluated by using Scandinavian Stroke Scale (SSS) before the treatment and 7,14,30 days after the treatment, and hematoma volume was also recorded. Results Compared with atorvastatin calcium group, the SSS scores in combination treatment group and Xingnaojing group were markedly increased on 7 days after the treatment (P < 0.01).The SSS scores in combination treatment group were significantly higher than those in Xingnaojing group on 14 days after the treatment (P < 0.01).The SSS scores in combination treatment group were significantly higher than those in the other two groups on 30 days after the treatment (P < 0.01),and the SSS scores in atorvastatin calcium group were also significantly higher than those in Xingnaojing group on 30 days after the treatment (P < 0.05).Additionally,there were no significant differences in hematoma volume between the three groups on 7,14 days after the treatment (P > 0.05).However,compared with Xingnaojing group and atorvastatin calcium group, hematoma volume in combination treatment group was significantly decreased (P < 0.01),while no significant difference was found between Xingnaojing group and atorvastatin calcium group on 30 days after the treatment (P > 0.05).Conclusions Xingnaojing combined with atorvastatin calcium can significantly promote hematoma absorption and improve the neurological function scores and prognosis for elder CSDH patients due to aspirin after trephination and drainage.
