Granulomatosis with polyangitis complicated with intracranial aneurysms: one case report and literature review

Abstract:Objective To improve the ability of early diagnosis and treatment ofgranulomatosis with polyangitis (GPA) complicated with intracranial aneurysms.Methods One male patient aged 67 years with GPA-associated with intracranial lesion was reported.The symptoms included recurrent headache and decreased vision and hearing in the recent three months.The relevant literature was discussed.Results The patient was diagnosed with GPA by operation and pathology.After 4-week therapy with high-dose glucocorticoid and cyclophospamide,headache and other clinical manifestations were improved.But the patient died due to subarachnoid hemorrhage.The reason may be rupture of the intracranial aneurysm.Conclusions Improving the understanding and early recognition of GPA is the basis for diagnosing and treating this disease.Related examinations should be given timely to save time for treating and improving outcome.Large dose of glucocorticosteroids and cyclophosphamid should be administered.And surgical operation should be perfomred if necessary.
