Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of photodynamic therapy (PDT) on recurrence of recurrent glioma patients and analyze the relationship with MMP2 expression. Methods The clinical data of 33 glioma patients after first relapse were analyzed retrospectively.According to whether the use of PDT during surgery, the patients were divided into 2 groups:PDT group (n=17) and non PDT group (N-PDT,n=16).The tumor tissues adhered with dura mater were collected to detect the expression of MMP2 protein and positive index by Western blotting and immunohistochemistry method, respectively. And the correlation between recurrence time and clinical characteristics was analyzed. Results Compared with N-PDT group,MMP2 protein expression and the positive index in the PDT group were decreased significantly (P< 0.05),and the one-year recurrence decreased significantly (P< 0.05).The lower the pathological grading of glioma, the lower the possibility of re-recurrence within 1 year (r=0.902,P< 0.05).And the lower the expression of MMP2,the lower the possibility of re-recurrence within 1 year (r=0.587,P< 0.05).Conclusion PDT can decrease the MMP2 expression of recurrent glioma and prolong the recurrence time.
