Abstract:Objective To analyze the clinical effects of neuronavigation-guided endonasal microsurgery for sellar region tumors via transsphenoidal approach. Methods Clinical data of 37 patients with sellar region tumors were analyzed retrospectively, who were treated by neuronavigation-guided endonasal microsurgery via transsphenoidal approach. Results The pathological diagnosis were pituitary adenoma in 32 patients, Rathke cleft cyst in 4 and chordoma in 1. The follow-up period was 5 to 24 months with the mean period of 14 months. The tumors were totally removed in 28 patients, subtotally in 5 and partially in 4. The transient diabetes insipidus occurred in 5 patients who recovered by using pituitrin or Minirin. CSF leakage occurred in 1 patient who was cured by lumbar cistern drainage. Among the 24 patients with impaired vision, visual acuity was improved in 20, remained unchanged in 2 and aggravated in 2. Among the 19 patients with abnormal hormone level, endocrine remission was observed in 15, remained unchanged 3 and aggravated in 1. Conclusions The neuronavigation-guided endonasal microsurgery for sellar region tumors via transsphenoidal approach is a safe and effective method.
